TN Governor Ravi boycotts Assembly, leaves House in a huff

Touching a new low in the relationship between the DMK Government and the Raj Bhavan, Governor RN Ravi boycotted the Assembly, leaving the House in a huff in protest against the national anthem not being sung at the commencement of the session on Monday morning.
Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi boycotted the state assembly session on February 12, 2024, after a dispute over the customary address to the House. Ravi left the assembly in a huff when Chief Minister M.K. Stalin moved a resolution to only record the prepared text of the Governor's address, which Ravi had deviated from by skipping references to Dravidian leaders and the state's achievements. Ravi had previously expressed his disagreement with certain portions of the address, leading to this unprecedented walkout, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing tensions between the Governor and the state government. This incident has sparked a debate on the role and conduct of Governors in state assemblies.
