  • Amid the ongoing political tussle following Union Home Minister Amit Shah's statement on Dr B.R. Ambedkar during the Winter Session of Parliament, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday came out in defence of the government while sharply criticising the Congress and other opposition parties.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath criticized the Congress party for its historical treatment of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, alleging that Jawaharlal Nehru did not want Ambedkar in the Constituent Assembly. Adityanath claimed that Nehru and the Congress opposed Ambedkar's inclusion, and it was only due to the efforts of Rajendra Prasad and other leaders that Ambedkar was able to contribute to the framing of the Indian Constitution. He further accused Congress of disrespecting Ambedkar by not awarding him the Bharat Ratna during their tenure, which was later done by the BJP government. Adityanath made these remarks during a speech in the UP Assembly, highlighting what he perceives as the Congress's historical neglect and opposition to Ambedkar's legacy.
