  A federal judge ruled Monday that the Trump administration unlawfully removed the board of the US Institute of Peace earlier this year and that subsequent actions taken by officials installed by the Department of Government Efficiency to cripple the agency are therefore "null and void.

The ruling came after a lawsuit filed by USIP's former president, Nancy Lindborg, who argued that Trump's actions were politically motivated and aimed at crippling the institute's work. The judge's decision reaffirms the independence of USIP and its crucial role in advancing peace and stability worldwide, protecting it from political interference and ensuring its continued operation free from partisan influence.
