Eight government watchdogs have sued the Trump administration over their mass firing that removed oversight of his new administration.
Eight inspectors general who were fired by former President Donald Trump in 2020 have filed a federal lawsuit claiming their terminations were unlawful. The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, alleges that Trump's actions violated the Inspector General Act, which is designed to protect the independence of inspectors general. The plaintiffs argue that their dismissals were retaliatory, aimed at silencing their oversight of government operations and potential misconduct.
