Elon Musk is everywhere but his popularity is dropping. Here's why
- Elon Musk's favourability in the US has dropped to 40 per cent, with 51 per cent disapproving of the billionaire. His controversial leadership of the Department of Government Efficiency under Donald Trump,
Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has experienced a significant decline in popularity in several countries, according to recent polls. In the United States, Musk's favorability rating has dropped, with a survey by YouGov indicating that 37% of Americans view him negatively, compared to 34% who see him positively. This shift is attributed to various controversies, including his management of Twitter, now known as X Corp, where his decisions like mass layoffs and policy changes have drawn criticism. In Germany, a poll by Civey showed that 44% of respondents had a negative opinion of Musk, while only 24% viewed him positively. Similarly, in the UK, a YouGov poll revealed that 45% of Britons dislike him, with only 17% holding a favorable view. These negative perceptions are largely influenced by Musk's public statements, his handling of Twitter, and concerns over labor practices at Tesla. Abroad, his image has also been tarnished by issues like Tesla's Autopilot safety concerns and his approach to free speech on X, leading to a broader international decline in his public image.
