'Free Imran Khan': Donald Trump's Incoming Envoy Richard Grenell Calls For Ex-Pak PM's Release

Washington: US President-elect Donald Trump's incoming envoy for special missions, Richard Grenell, on Wednesday, called for the release of former Pakistani Prime Minister and founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan,
Richard Grenell, the incoming envoy of former U.S. President Donald Trump, has called for the release of Pakistan's former Prime Minister Imran Khan, who has been imprisoned since August 2023. Grenell, who previously served as the U.S. Ambassador to Germany and Acting Director of National Intelligence, made this demand via a post on X (formerly Twitter), urging, "Free Imran Khan." Khan was ousted from power in April 2022 through a no-confidence vote and has since faced numerous legal challenges, including charges of corruption, terrorism, and contempt of court. Despite these allegations, Khan maintains his innocence, claiming the charges are politically motivated to prevent his participation in upcoming elections. His arrest and subsequent detention have sparked significant political turmoil in Pakistan, with his supporters protesting against what they perceive as an unjust crackdown on opposition leaders.
