  • The Kremlin on Monday rejected Turkish media reports which suggested that Asma al-Assad, the British-born wife of former Syrian president Bashar al-Assad, wanted a divorce and to leave Russia. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov also rejected Turkish media reports which suggested that Assad had been confined to Moscow and had his property assets frozen.

The Kremlin has dismissed reports from Turkish media suggesting that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his wife Asma are living in Moscow. Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin's spokesperson, stated that these claims are untrue and emphasized that Assad is actively involved in the affairs of Syria, not residing in Russia. The reports, which originated from Turkish media, speculated that Assad and his family had moved to Moscow due to security concerns in Damascus. However, Peskov clarified that Assad's presence in Moscow was limited to official visits, with the most recent one occurring in March. This response from the Kremlin aims to quash rumors and reaffirm Assad's commitment to his role in Syria.
