Hochul backs off change to school funding

Governor Kathy Hochul of New York has decided to abandon a proposed change to the state's school funding formula that would have reduced aid to certain school districts. This decision came after significant pushback from suburban lawmakers and school officials who argued that the changes would unfairly cut funding to their districts. The original proposal aimed to adjust the "hold harmless" provision, which ensures that no district receives less state aid than the previous year, potentially saving the state $131 million.
