  • The California Fair Political Practices Commission on Wednesday night confirmed Gov. Gavin Newsom has paid a $13,000 fine, which he agreed to pay weeks ago as part of a settlement for violating state political ethics rules.

Governor Gavin Newsom of California has been fined $14,100 by the state's Fair Political Practices Commission for failing to report gifts and travel reimbursements on time. The violations include not disclosing 25 gifts, such as tickets to sports events and meals, and not reporting reimbursements for travel to destinations like New York, Chicago, and Baja California. Newsom's office acknowledged the errors, attributing them to administrative oversights, and has since implemented new protocols to ensure timely reporting. The fine was issued after an audit covering the period from 2018 to 2022, highlighting issues with the reporting of charitable donations and reimbursements.
