The district includes the municipalities of Clifton, Livingston, Millburn, Montclair, Roseland and West Orange.

The primary election results for New Jersey's 27th Legislative District show that Richard Codey and John McKeon are leading the Democratic primary for the two state Senate seats, with Codey receiving 41.7% and McKeon 39.7% of the votes, based on 97% of the votes counted. In the Republican primary, Adam Kraemer and Michael G. Mecca are ahead with 48.4% and 51.6% respectively. For the Assembly seats, Democrats Mila M. Jasey and John F. McKeon are leading with 26.5% and 25.8% of the votes, while Republicans Jonathan Sym and Theresa A. Venezia are in the lead with 49.7% and 50.3%. These results are based on unofficial tallies and may change as final counts are completed.
