Trump slams India's "high tariffs", says reciprocal tariffs will boost US jobs and production

An hour before his bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, US President Donald Trump again commented on India's tariff structure, saying "they have the highest tariffs" and "it is a hard place to do business".
In an article published by MSN, former U.S. President Donald Trump criticized India for imposing high tariffs on American products, particularly highlighting the 100% duty on U.S. motorcycles. Trump argued that these tariffs are unfair and detrimental to American businesses. He proposed the idea of implementing reciprocal tariffs, suggesting that if India places a 100% tariff on U.S. goods, the U.S. should do the same to Indian products. Trump believes this approach would lead to fairer trade practices, boost U.S. job creation, and increase domestic production. He emphasized that such measures would encourage countries to lower their tariffs to avoid higher costs on their exports to the U.S. This stance reflects Trump's broader policy of aggressive trade negotiations and protectionism during his presidency.
