President Donald Trump on his first full day in office Tuesday defended his decision to grant clemency to people convicted of assaulting police officers during the 2021 attack on the Capitol and suggested there could be a place in U.

In his first news conference since leaving office, former President Donald Trump discussed the possibility of pardoning individuals involved in the January 6th Capitol riot. Trump suggested that he was considering pardons for some of the rioters, arguing that many were unfairly treated and that there was a disparity in how legal actions were pursued compared to other political protests. Trump also touched on various other topics, including his views on the 2020 election, his ongoing legal battles, and his influence within the Republican Party, while maintaining that he would make decisions on pardons based on fairness and justice.
