The legislative arms of Egor Local Government Area of Edo State have impeached the council chairman, Eghe Ogbemudia, and the vice chairman, Frank Osawe. The legislators also suspended the leader of the legislative arms,
Eghe Ogbemudia, the daughter of the late Samuel Ogbemudia, was impeached as the Chairman of Egor Local Government Council in Edo State, Nigeria. The impeachment was carried out by seven out of the ten councilors, who cited reasons including gross misconduct, financial mismanagement, and abuse of office. The councilors accused her of not convening statutory meetings, misappropriating funds, and engaging in activities that brought disrepute to the council. Following the impeachment, the Vice Chairman, Mrs. Omonuwa Ogbesam-Ogiemwonyi, was sworn in as the acting Chairman. Eghe Ogbemudia has denied the allegations, describing the impeachment as a political witch-hunt and plans to challenge the decision in court.
