Escudero, Poe on deferred 2025 budget signing: Part of checks and balances

Senate President Francis Escudero and Senator Grace Poe have both commented on the delay in the signing of the 2025 national budget, describing it as a normal part of the checks and balances within the government. Escudero emphasized that the delay, which has pushed the budget signing past the usual deadline, is not unprecedented and reflects the thorough review process by the executive branch. He noted that the budget process involves multiple stages of review and negotiation, ensuring that the budget is well-scrutinized before implementation. Senator Poe echoed this sentiment, stating that the delay is a sign of a healthy democracy where each branch of government exercises its constitutional roles effectively. She also mentioned that the budget's delay does not necessarily hinder government operations as agencies can continue to function under the previous year's budget until the new one is signed into law.
