Government Increases University Student Flight Ticket Subsidy To RM400

The Malaysian government has increased the flight ticket subsidy for university students from RM300 to RM400, effective immediately, as announced by Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir. This decision aims to alleviate the financial burden on students traveling back to their hometowns during festive seasons, particularly for Hari Raya Aidilfitri. The subsidy applies to students from public universities, polytechnics, community colleges, and matriculation colleges, covering both domestic and international flights. The initiative, which began in 2023, has already benefited 60,000 students, and with the increased amount, it is expected to help more students manage travel costs during peak travel times.
