  • Overall, the poll shows the election had little impact on Tennesseans' stances on key issues. A notable difference was the increased approval for state lawmakers since May, despite the poll showing leaders often holding positions on some issues that are out of step with Tennesseans.

The Vanderbilt University poll conducted post-election in 2024 reveals several key insights into Tennessee's political landscape. It shows that President Joe Biden's approval rating in Tennessee remains low, with only 32% of respondents approving of his job performance. The poll also highlights a significant partisan divide, with 85% of Democrats approving of Biden compared to just 12% of Republicans. On the issue of the state's abortion ban, 57% of Tennesseans support some form of abortion access, with 39% favoring the current law that bans abortion at all stages of pregnancy. Additionally, the poll indicates that while Governor Bill Lee enjoys a 54% approval rating, there is considerable dissatisfaction with the direction of the state, with 52% feeling Tennessee is on the wrong track. The survey also touches on public opinion regarding the Tennessee General Assembly, with 46% disapproving of its performance.
