Buncombe County is in the process of consolidating several government services to be housed in one building.

Buncombe County government services are set to relocate to a new building at 200 College Street in Asheville, with the move scheduled to begin on April 22, 2024, and expected to be completed by May 6, 2024. The relocation will affect several departments including the Tax Office, Register of Deeds, and Board of Elections, which will temporarily close during the move but will offer services online and by phone. The new facility, which spans 120,000 square feet over five floors, aims to improve service delivery and accessibility, and will feature enhanced security measures and better parking facilities. The county has planned the move to minimize disruption, with staff training on the new building's systems occurring in the weeks leading up to the relocation.
