The operation, which began in February 2024, involves European warships and airborne early warning systems to protect vessels from drone and missile attacks. The extension reflects the EU's commitment to ensuring the safety of one of the world's most critical maritime corridors, which is vital for global trade, particularly for the transport of oil and goods between Europe and Asia.
