Columbia council pays farewell to outgoing members and city attorney at final 2024 meeting

  • Columbia City Council paid special recognition to its outgoing members in Wards 2, 3 and 5, as well as long serving City Attorney Tim Tisher.

The Columbia City Council held its final meeting of 2024, marking the end of terms for several members and the city attorney. During the session, the council paid tribute to outgoing members Nick Knoth, who is moving to the Missouri House of Representatives, and Karl Skala, who did not seek re-election. City Attorney Nancy Thompson, who has served for 17 years, was also honored as she retires. The meeting included speeches reflecting on their contributions, with Mayor Barbara Buffaloe expressing gratitude for their service. The council also passed several ordinances and resolutions, including one recognizing the outgoing members' service. The atmosphere was one of appreciation and nostalgia as the city looks forward to new leadership in the coming year.
