  • By Ted Hesson WASHINGTON - President-elect Donald Trump will use the U.S. military to the fullest extent of the law to support his mass deportation effort, he told TIME magazine in an interview published on Thursday,

In a recent interview with Time magazine, former President Donald Trump outlined his plans to utilize the military for mass deportations if he were to return to office, stating he would do so "to the fullest extent of the law." Trump emphasized that while the Posse Comitatus Act generally prohibits the use of the military for domestic law enforcement, he believes there are exceptions that would allow for military involvement in immigration enforcement. He suggested that the National Guard could be deployed, particularly in states with significant illegal immigration issues, and mentioned that he would not hesitate to use the military if necessary, despite potential legal challenges. This approach reflects Trump's broader immigration policy, which includes reinstating and expanding previous measures like the travel ban from certain Muslim-majority countries and potentially revisiting family separation policies at the border.
