Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan have signed a historic border agreement aimed at resolving long-standing territorial disputes that have occasionally led to violent clashes. The agreement, signed in the presence of both countries' leaders, covers more than 90% of their shared 970-kilometer border, with the remaining sections to be settled by year's end. This deal not only demarcates the border but also includes provisions for the construction of roads and bridges to enhance connectivity. The agreement is seen as a significant step towards peace and stability in Central Asia, potentially setting a precedent for resolving similar conflicts in the region. The signing ceremony was attended by key figures from both nations, underscoring the importance of this diplomatic breakthrough.
