  • As polls closed in Canada, early results showed that the ruling Liberal Party won the federal election, according to CBC News.

The Canadian Liberal Party, led by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, has secured a majority government in the 2025 federal election, as reported by CBC News. The Liberals won 172 seats, surpassing the 170 seats needed for a majority in the House of Commons. The Conservative Party, led by Pierre Poilievre, came in second with 116 seats, while the New Democratic Party (NDP) and the Bloc Québécois secured 25 and 32 seats respectively. The Green Party and other smaller parties won the remaining seats. Voter turnout was reported at 68%, slightly higher than in the 2021 election. Trudeau's campaign focused on economic recovery, climate change, and healthcare, which resonated with voters amidst ongoing global challenges.
