The Amarillo Symphony is gearing up for its "American Journey" concert, which will take place on November 11 and 12, 2023, at the Globe-News Center for the Performing Arts. This concert will feature a diverse program celebrating American music, including works by Aaron Copland, George Gershwin, and John Williams, as well as a piece by contemporary composer Valerie Coleman. The performance will include Copland's "Fanfare for the Common Man," Gershwin's "An American in Paris," and selections from Williams' score for "The Cowboys." Additionally, the concert will showcase the talents of guest artist Awadagin Pratt, who will perform Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue." The event promises to be a rich exploration of American musical heritage, highlighting both historical and modern compositions.
