FIFA has postponed the launch of the inaugural Women's Club World Cup to 2026, aiming to ensure the tournament's success by allowing more time for preparation. This decision was announced by FIFA President Gianni Infantino during the 74th FIFA Congress in Bangkok. Instead, FIFA will introduce a new competition in 2025, the Women's Intercontinental Cup, which will feature one team from each of FIFA's six confederations. This move is part of FIFA's broader strategy to enhance the global women's football landscape, providing more competitive opportunities and increasing the sport's visibility and development.
