  • Manchester United reported an adjusted net loss of 6.2 million pounds ($7.80 million) in the second quarter on Wednesday, as revenues took a hit from the club taking part in the less lucrative Europa League competition.

Manchester United reported a significant quarterly net loss of 78 million pounds ($98.6 million) for the three months ending December 31, 2024, as disclosed in their financial statement on February 19, 2025. This loss was attributed to a 20% year-on-year revenue drop to 156.5 million pounds, primarily due to the club's early exit from the Champions League, which led to reduced matchday, broadcasting, and commercial revenues. The club's expenses also increased by 15% to 203.7 million pounds, driven by higher staff costs and investments in the squad. Despite these financial setbacks, Manchester United's CEO, Richard Arnold, expressed optimism about the club's future, highlighting ongoing efforts to improve performance on and off the pitch, including strategic investments in the team and infrastructure.
