Granby High School's senior diver, Thebarge, is the only competitive high school diver in Norfolk, Virginia, and is aiming to win the state championship. Despite the lack of local competition, Thebarge has been training rigorously, focusing on perfecting his dives and increasing his difficulty scores. His coach, who has been with him since middle school, praises his dedication and improvement over the years. Thebarge's journey has been one of overcoming isolation in his sport, as he often competes against divers from schools with larger and more established diving programs. His goal is not only to win the state title but also to inspire other young athletes in Norfolk to take up diving, potentially leading to the growth of the sport in the area.
