US opens probe into about 2.6 mln Tesla vehicles over Actually Smart Summon feature

This probe was prompted by incidents where Tesla vehicles, operating under Autopilot, crashed into stationary emergency vehicles. The investigation will assess the system's ability to ensure driver attentiveness and its overall safety performance. This follows a previous recall of over 2 million Tesla vehicles to enhance driver monitoring features. The NHTSA's scrutiny focuses on whether Tesla's current updates adequately address the risks associated with Autopilot, particularly in scenarios involving stationary vehicles.
