LOS ANGELES, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- March 14, 2007 -- Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) Union Station FlyAway bus service to LAX celebrates record ridership on its first anniversary of operation with free rides for public transit users from March 15-31, introduction of a commemorative edition bus into service, and an annual pass prize giveaway. WHAT: LAWA celebrates FlyAways record ridership exceeding 250,000 travelers -- more than triple its initial projections. The FlyAway is contributing to reducing LA traffic congestion and vehicle air emissions. News media will be able to interview travelers and commuters waiting to board the FlyAway buses during this peak travel period. Airport spokespersons will be available for interviews describing the successful service and its benefits to travelers and environment. FlyAway is offering public transit riders free round trip service to LAX from March 15-31, launching a new commemorative edition bus into service, and awarding annual passes for unlimited free rides on the FlyAway and Metro lines to 10 lucky passengers. The Commemorative FlyAway Bus will be on display at the Berth 9 bus stop in Patsaouras Transit Plaza for an hour prior to boarding passengers.
